iPad and external displays

On an iPad, Parlor plays the same way as on an iPhone with more room for the game. Connect a TV — over AirPlay or a cable — and the game moves to the big screen while your device becomes the controller.

iPad

  • Every orientation is supported; touch controls scale with the window and shrink in Slide Over.
  • Hardware keyboards (Magic Keyboard, Folio, or any Bluetooth keyboard) work immediately with the default layout.
  • Parlor can be opened in more than one window, but only one of them runs the library. A second window says so and offers to take over if you close the first.

Playing on a TV from an iPhone or iPad

Connect a USB-C (or Lightning) to HDMI adapter. Start a game: Parlor takes the TV over — the game fills it — and the device shows a full-screen controller. A cable adds far less delay than AirPlay, so action games stay playable.

A display connected in the middle of a game picks the game up on its own; quitting hands the display back to the system.

Nintendo DS on a TV

Settings → Nintendo DS on TV: Top screen only (default), Both screens, or Both, side by side. The iPhone or iPad shows the bottom screen live as a touchpad so you can still tap it.

The device as a controller

While the game is on the TV, the device shows a full-screen controller surface with the touch cluster for that system — or nothing, if a Bluetooth controller is connected, which is the better way to play.
